In a recent internal survey, 72% of our employees declared that they are interested in learning more about climate change.
The increasing engagement of employees around this topic is a great opportunity for us to innovate and lead the change.
Engaging and upskilling our employees on the climate change journey is part of AXA’s strategic priorities and the AXA for Progress Index.
In fact, by 2023, AXA aims at training 100% of its employees on climate issues. As an insurance company we are particularly concerned by climate change, and we have the possibility to act as an insurer, as an investor and as an exemplary company.
For AXA, acting as an exemplary company, means making employees leaders of the transformation.
Today, AXA launches the AXA Climate Academy: a program that aims at raising awareness on Climate change, building a common language and supporting AXA employees in our collective journey to mitigate Climate change.
The objective is indeed for all employees to Learn the science, Rethink the business perspective, Commit to change and Transform, the 4 steps proposed in the Academy. Kickstarting this transformation will allow us to better serve our customers by providing them more sustainable products, services and solutions that are better aligned with their needs.
The AXA Climate Academy has five key objectives:
The AXA Climate Academy is the result of a collective effort. It was designed in collaboration with global and local experts from Group, entities, scientists, sustainability, learning & AXA Climate teams and reviewed by an entity sounding board.

Group Chief Learning Officer
Our world is coping with massive environmental and climate change challenges. AXA acting for climate is not only a strategic priority for us as employees, but it is also essential for us as human beings to preserve the planet for our customers, and for future generations. This year, the AXA Learning Week will focus on this cause, and via the AXA Climate Academy we aim to bring a common understanding of the Climate situation both from a scientific, business and day-to-day standpoint. In order to act for change, we first have to learn and understand.

Former Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer
Climate transition is one of the priorities of our strategic plan Driving Progress 2023. To achieve our targets, we have to act as an investor, as insurer and as an exemplary company by integrating climate issues in every job of the company. Eco gestures and volunteer actions will continue to be necessary but are not enough: now it is time for broader business transformation and development of new skills. That’s why we commit to train all employees on climate issues by 2023. Climate is changing and so must we!
