National Geographic - Community resilience and climate change

A conversation between Katrina Brown, supported by the AXA Research Fund, & National Geographic Explorer Jon Waterman, on community resilience and climate change.

Protecting individuals from extreme weather events and climate change is the joint responsibility of governments, other agencies in civil society and communities. All have different roles to play in building capacity to respond to those challenges; they should work together and be mutually supportive.

Starting from New Orleans' Hurricane Katrina event, meet with local communities and let Dr. Brown, Social Scientist and Professor at the University of Exeter, discuss how those communities can build resilience, and work together to enhance their capacities to adapt to change.

Dr. Katrina Brown's genuine hope is for her research to help feed local policy and empower poor communities in the face of climate change.
