Prof. Guiso's various innovative research projects have focused on household financial and savings choices, Culture and Economy, Macroeconomics and Finance. Over the years, he has received international awards and prizes such as the Smith Breeden Award for his article "Trusting the Stock Market" in 2009 and the Spangler-IQAM Award for the best investment article in the Review of Finance in 2015.

In 2016, he was named one of the "World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" by Reuters.
