Meet Cynthia, one of our graduate alumni. She joined the AXA Graduate Program in 2014 on the UK's Future Business Leaders programme. So, what made her choose AXA? Let’s find out.
I was born and raised in Hong Kong. When I was about 15 I decided to take on a new challenge and come to the UK to study. I miss my family because I'm here on my own, but I'm quite independent and I like exploring new things. Being someone who was relatively global and quite happy to travel all around the world, I think that's what drew me to AXA initially.
I really joined AXA because of the people. In 2014, I was a team leader in a sales and service centre. I managed a team of eight people and my job was to bring the best out in them. I met them and I just really liked them. I thought they were fun, they were relaxed and they were the kind of people I wanted to work with.
It's also nice to know that there’s a global network of graduates. It's not always easy moving from placement to placement and doing a different role each time. It’s good to know that there are other people out there who are experiencing the same things as you are.
To me being successful is feeling like I’m in a good place, knowing that the Company needs me and that I'm valued in it.
I try to actively seek out challenges at work, especially in an organisation like AXA where they give you the opportunity to do so. I always think there's a way to make things possible and I think as a graduate, people tend to come to you for a different perspective.
That's what drew me to AXA when I first applied for the job. It was that culture of thinking differently and constantly being encouraged to challenge everything, that's the culture that AXA has. And it's something that’s quite unique in the financial services industry.
