In France, 8 out of 10 companies are weather-sensitive*, so climate risk is a real threat and can lead to decrease their revenues, due to a decline in sales in commercial activity or a drop-in visitors in tourism activity for instance.

In the lead up to the COP21 Conference in Paris, AXA Entreprises (France) launched an offer to protect micro entreprises and SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Entreprises) against climate-related risks. The Climate Risks insurance offers enables customers to be eligible for financial compensation in the event their revenues fall due to weather events such as rain or drought.

As a first step, this offer is available in two weather-sensitive sectors: Textile industry and Catering & Accommodation sector.

*Weather-sensitivity is defined by how the weather can impact the business performance of a company.
