Climate Change: it's Our Turn to Lead2015 could be the most exciting year in environmental history. The year in which economic growth and sustainability join hands. The year in which world leaders finally pass a binding climate change treaty. On Earth Day, we take a stand so that together, we can show the world a new direction. It's our turn to lead. So our world leaders can follow by example. ALL ARTICLES | Commitment
AXA has been positioning itself on the topic for several years, through different initiatives, businesses and investments but also through research.
Climate Change is a collective challenge
Valérie Masson-Delmotte, member of the Scientific Board of the AXA Research Fund & Jean Jouzel, vice-president of GIEC (Nobel Peace Prize in 2007), both climatologists, recently spoke to the Management Committee of AXA of the bare facts of climate change and its destructive consequences, the need for all to act to attenuate the effects, and of our role as insurers to both protect and provide solutions.
Increasing the resilience of the populations impacted by climate change
The AXA Group supports CARE, the international humanitarian NGO, to help vulnerable populations better prepare for climate-related risks. Since 2011, AXA is supporting CARE's research project "Where the rain falls" developed in eight countries to advance understanding of the complexities of changing rainfall patterns, and their effects on food security and human mobility. The project taking place in Perù, in this context, aims at enhancing food security and improve the resilience of vulnerable Andean communities to the impacts of climate change, notably through the use of traditional crops.
