The Advanced Practices Director is responsible for all Advanced Practices management and supervision, including proactively promoting the adoption and usage of group services.  This highly visible role will lead and manage a team of skilled professionals offering case consultations targeting high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, businesses and small business owners in the complex advanced market areas including business insurance, annuities, business valuation, retirement planning, 401k plan administration, and executive benefits planning.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for meeting the groups overall outreach activity goals.  
  • Reviewing sales concepts from both internal and external sources to determine their impact and risk to AXA Advisors and may be making recommendations that could drive significant amounts of revenue.  
  • Overseeing the creation of marketing material and client presentations illustrating the complex techniques used in planning addressing both legal and tax issues; many will be highly visible to external business partners  and must be coordinated with other divisions.  
  • Developing and maintaining strong knowledge of AXA Equitable's Life, Annuity and Employer Sponsored Product portfolio, positioning and illustration systems.
  • Has supervisory responsibility and authority to approve the suitability of financial planning and investment advisory activities.
  • The individual will be responsible for ensuring Written Supervisory Procedures are maintained. The individual will also work closely with all other functional areas such as Operations, Legal/Compliance and IT.  
  • Providing leadership and direction to team.  
  • Providing subject matter expertise for training and development and acting as sales coach.  (Travel is required.)
  • Managing all aspects of the Advance Practices group – from strategic goal setting to day-to-day activities.
  • Achieving overall outreach objectives by contributing to strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying trends; determining case consultation process improvements; and implementing change.
  • Identifying trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Directly managing relationships with strategic internal partners to ensure effective communication and dissemination of information.  
  • Analyzing marketplace, competitor/industry, and client trends to develop strategic insights and recommendations on developments influencing AXA Advisors’ advanced market business.
  • Professionally representing AXA Advisors at Field and/or Industry events
  • Complying with all rules and regulations of selling securities as outlined by FINRA and SEC as well as any guidelines established by the company
  • Ensuring that proper management practices are adhered to by providing ongoing performance and career discussions, on-time completion of relevant people processes, and fostering Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Resolving conflicts and complex issues in a cross-functional setting. 
  • Handling multiple tasks, initiatives or projects. 
  • Overseeing sales and metrics reporting activities.
  • Ad hoc projects as needed.


• 10+ years' financial services experience, with strong advanced markets experience (e.g., financial planning, business insurance, qualified plans, executive benefits, etc.)
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• FINRA S7, S24, and S63/65 or S66 required 
• Advanced designation (e.g., CFP, ChFC, JD, CLU) required
• Excellent telephone communication skills and etiquette.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to build effective relationships.
• Strong working knowledge of retail financial services industry
• Strong knowledge of insurance products (e.g., life, annuity and employer sponsored) 
• Strong knowledge of industry standard planning concepts. 
• Experience with sales planning and territory management.
• Experience managing a call center.
• Ability to work both independently and directly manage a team.  
• Detail oriented.
• Commitment to learning and expanding knowledge of financial services
