AXA’s Sourcing & Procurement team provides support to the business by providing guidance and governance related to the management of third parties. This team is at the forefront of major company initiatives with primary responsibility for negotiations, risk assessment, contracting and ongoing vendor management of the organization’s third party contracts.  We have state of the art tools and a strong centralized team. Through the use of contemporary technology platforms, the Sourcing and Procurement team partners with vendors in a manner that minimizes risk while providing the best value for the negotiated price.  We collaborate with our other AXA entities to leverage global spend and best practices.

This role is part of the AXA US Corporate Sourcing and Procurement team which is a division within the AXA US Finance organization and reports to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO).

The Senior Director – Vendor Management COE Lead works closely with and reports to the CPO and partners closely with AXA US business leaders to understand strategic business priorities and perform market analysis to develop strategic options for leveraging vendors to meet business needs.  Furthermore, this position is accountable for development, governance and execution of  a corporate-wide vendor management strategy and discipline . This position manages a staff of 6 resources which are responsible for monitoring “post contract” compliance with policies and standards and optimization of the portfolio across various dimensions of the vendor relationship, including cost optimization, demand management, risk and performance.  Furthermore, the team is responsible for ongoing training and education of business area vendor managers, providing analytics and strategic insights and promoting efficient and effective procurement practices and processes.


  • Partner with CPO and business area leadership to understand strategic priorities, perform market analysis and  develop  vendor strategies to meet business needs
  • Develop and institutionalize the strategic vendor management process working closely with the vendors & category managers to perform market analysis and  implement category strategies which extract maximum value &  deliver on savings opportunities
  • Develop & execute a Supplier Diversity strategy  that aligns with the vendor management strategy and achieves sustainable growth and penetration in this market
  • Develop and execute a sustainable vendor management training program for business area vendor managers
  • Conceptualize and develop strategic alliances with preferred vendors/partners
  • Manage central vendor management  team  and provide clear direction for direct reports and cross-functional teams, including roles and responsibilities, performance evaluation, processes and standards, and coordination of resources
  • Monitors spend,  and report savings and performance metrics to CPO
  • Develop and execute a robust communications strategy to advise key stakeholders of the program status, including coordination of the agenda and reporting for the Executive Vendor Management Committee

Education & Qualifications

  • Master degree preferably in Business or Supply Chain required or equivalent experience, and/or CPM certification
  • 8-10 years of experience in sourcing, contract negotiation, competitive price analysis, and purchasing
  • Deep understanding of the category marketplace in multiple categories
