Purpose of the role :

Our Scrum Masters are highly visible leaders, building bridges across Axa to ensure projects are effectively developed, integrated, and deployed with quality and on time delivery into our production environments.

Our Scrum Masters also coach and mentor teams to deliver virtual desktop platforms & products to over 30k users.

Key Responsibilities :

The role involves extensive hands-on activities. Here are key job responsibilities that you will have as a Scrum Master :


  • Fulfil the role of the Scrum Master, guiding multiple virtual desktop scrum teams.

  • Supervise and facilitate teams in all Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, sprint demos, retrospectives, and daily stand ups.

  • Responsible for creatively removing impediments from the scrum team so they can continue to perform at their best.

  • Create, maintain and deliver on project and work stream plans. Revise as appropriate to meet changing understanding and needs.

  • Identify and manage the risks associated with projects to achieve project success.

  • Ensure that the definition of done is being followed by the team.

  • Support the Product Owner on refining the product backlog and make them ready for upcoming sprints, enabling longer-term work visibility for reporting to delivery and management teams.

  • Demonstrate ability to influence Product Development and Management teams to improve product features and supportability of a product offering by identifying problems and suggesting and/or driving implementation of fixes or features in collaboration with the Service Owner, product owner & customers.

  • Work together with team during project estimation sessions and share understanding of projected durations and release plans with leadership team.

  • Facilitate the teams desire for creativity, continual improvement of efficiency and capability.

  • Measure team sprint success by using standard sprint metrics and drive team efficiency and productivity improvement through data points.

  • Analyse Scrum teams capacity to align with Sprint & Quarter planning and provide sourcing recommendations in collaboration with product owners.

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem solving.

  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.

  • Supporting the team using a servant leadership style and providing an aspirational example.

  • Influence others including those more senior on best practices in Agile.

  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team and coaching them to higher levels of maturity.

  • Work with other Scrum Masters within the organisation to increase the effectiveness of the application of Agile/Scrum.

Education : 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Experience :

  • About 3 years Scrum Master experience

  • About 5 years’ experience working with IT Technical teams ideally in the workplace environment.

  • Certified Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Master/Product Owner (CSM, CSPO, SAFe) or equivalent professional qualification.

Skills : 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coach, mentor and support other members of the engineering team, sharing technical and operational knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion.

  • Capacity to connect people together.

  • Exposure to large scale Agile delivery across multiple teams, cultures and geographies

  • Broad experience of working in a variety of Agile environments of different maturities.

  • Capacity to speak another language is a plus.
