We are currently recruiting for a Desktop Engineer to join our established NI claims team in Riverside Tower in Belfast city centre.

Reporting to teh Chief Engineer, the purpose of the role is to supply an efficient, cost effective and timely motor inspection service where you will be delivering fair settlement recommendations in line with AXA procedures, guidelines, and regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of underwriting principals and insurance products, an understanding of claims procedures and policies as well as strong customer focus.

 

The Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Effectively control and reduce repair costs

  • Conducts technical investigations and provides detailed reports; including Audatex estimates accurately detailing the correct repair method and costings

  • Provides valuations within the Glass’s Guide with appropriate adjustments based on local market

  • Provides expert evidence in court and/ or at legal consultations

  • Negotiates settlement with suppliers and customers

  • Delivers and maintains technical and safety standards training

  • Conducts audit inspections and collates/co-ordinates audit data

  • Monitors contractual performance and Service Level Agreements of suppliers within the working area

  • Flexibility within the role to undertake other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer and participate in any designated projects (including cross-functional).

  • Identify and refer potential cases of fraud to Special Investigations Unit (SIU) using red flag indicators and handler intuition to avoid commercial loss through potentially fraudulent claims

  • Collaborate with your colleagues and the wider business to drive the correct outcome for AXA and our customers

  • Use appropriate judgement to deliver excellent customer performance in line with the AXA Group values and strategy

  • Practical experience gained in a garage workshop/vehicle repair environment (time served apprentice), ideally 2+ years

  • BTEC/ City and Guilds full technical certificate  or having a minimum of NVQ3 in Automotive Repair or similar

  • Attainment or progress towards membership of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors or IMI

  • Proven ability in customer liaison and negotiation

  • Working to and meeting service level agreements and / or deadlines

  • U/W principles & insurance products – Working knowledge 

  • Technical Claims & Settlement, procedures and processes – Working Knowledge

  • Motor vehicle construction and repair techniques covering bodywork, paint work, mechanical, electrical, and trim – Expert

  • New and secondhand market vehicle values, environment and trends - Expert

  • Claim regulations, compliance and legislation - Working knowledge

  • Best practice Engineers processes and QA - Expert
