Ability to review and assess mortality and morbidity risk within company guidelines at the Lead Manager level. Evaluate underwriter capability to determine quality of risk assessment that protects the company from adverse mortality and ensures UW offers are responsibly competitive to support the company's financial objectives. Quality reviews are completed and timely appropriate feedback is provided within established service level agreements. Identify areas of training opportunities and/or guideline clarity. Assist with guideline updates as needed. Support Underwriter training objectives to include development of training materials, presentation of training seminars and mentoring of new UW trainees. Complete early claims review and analysis. Assist with ad hoc project initiatives.


10+ years individual underwriting experience. 5+ years undewriting QA experience. Expert knowledge and understanding of life insurance risk evaluation and selection process. Ability to read, interpret and comprehend medical and financial data and correlate with the underwriting of complex cases. Advanced knowledge of life insurance industry principles and practices including life insurance operations, reinsurance practices, product, sales concepts, compliance and legal issues, claims and distribution, specifically those affecting undewriting guidelines and practices. Strong communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate findings, performance standards, and provide detailed feedback. Ability to work collaboratively and productively with Underwriters, Managers, and other business units. Ability to analyze data and identify trends in order to provide a comprehensive analysis of patterns and training needs. Project management experience desired but not required. Excellent time management skills. FLMI or FALU or AALU desired but not required.
