The Credit Analyst covers a set of mainly European and US corporate credits relevant to AXA Group’s credit portfolio. The Senior Credit Analyst reports to the Manager – Non-Financial Corporate Credit Analysis and the Head of Credit Research in the Group Credit Team (“GCT”). The position is Paris based and is part of a 25 member multi-national credit team within AXA Group’s Investment & ALM department headed by the Group CIO. The AXA Group credit portfolio is in the order of EUR 170 billion with around 3,000 issuers.

 

Main Responsabilities:

 

The core duties of the Credit Analyst are:
  • Assessing and monitoring a portfolio of non-financial corporate credits, including eligibility proposals
  • Proposing internal ratings for issuers in his/her portfolio
  • Backup responsibilities on other secors followed by his/her colleagues
  • Liaising with Group Asset Managers and AXA local entities as part of an AXA Group issuer eligibility process
  • Collaborating closely with other GCT credit analyst and credit investment teammates
  • Contributing to more effective and efficient approaches to credit investment and management
  • Addressing and supporting the team’s needs in analytical areas such as rating frameworks and financial modeling
  • Assisting the Manager – Non-Financial Corporate Credit Analysis in the preparation of the AXA Group’s Credit Universe Committee, credit process and governance documents, and regular credit-related reports such as the “Watch” name monitoring report
  • Assisting the Manager – Non-Financial Corporate Credit Analysis to supervise, motivate and educate more junior members of the teams, if needed

Outputs and Deliverables:

 

The Credit Analyst’s core work results in:
  • Internal credit rating recommendations for all issuers in his/her portfolio
  • Surveillance notes about relevant key credit events for issuers in his/her portfolio
  • Credit assessments and eligibility proposals for newly proposed names
  • Periodic issuer and/or sector reviews
  • Mentoring of junior analysts to help develop their analytical skills

The targeted background for the Credit Analyst includes:
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business from a leading university
  • Minimum 6/7 years of experience in a fundamental credit analysis role at a rating agency, financial institution, asset manager or institutional investor
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; French and other languages a plus
