The Alternative Asset Due Diligence Senior Analyst is supporting the alternative credit team in selecting third party managers AXA is willing to work with. He /she performs due diligence of asset managers to identify potential partners AXA could team up with.


He/she reports to the head of Portfolio Construction Team within the Group Credit Team (“GCT”).. The position is Paris based and is part of a 25 plus credit team within the AXA Group holding company’s Investment & ALM department headed by the Group CIO. The AXA Group Alternative investments portfolio represents an important share of AXA Group invested assets portfolio with Eur 100bn.


The primary duties of the Alternative Asset Due Diligence Senior Analyst are:


  • Selecting third party asset manager to complement AXA investment universe based upon their sourcing capacity, value proposal for AXA and past performances
  • Reviewing the investment/co investment/partnership proposals from third party asset managers
  • Organizing due diligence and RFP process
  • Organizing the review of performances and the monitoring of the third-party as well as internal manager funds
  • Contributing to the negotiation of the terms and  the condition of new partnerships
  • Identifying tier one managers per sub asset classes within the alternative credit universe
  • Realizing market surveillance analysis to follow new initiatives/new actors
  • Supporting senior corporate and infrastructure underwriters in the selection of investment proposals and in the implementation of investment solutions
  • Liaising with the senior structurer to identify investment solution to be implemented to team up with third party managers
  • Leading the follow up due diligence of the existing Group credit and real assets  investment strategies in place and regularly reporting to AXA investment community
  • Identifying strengths and weaknesses of existing or new strategies and recommending an action plan, organizing the follow up
  • Being the key contact point within AXA organization (Group Risk management, Group accounting department…)  for all due diligence related topics

The Alternative Asset due diligence Senior Analyst’s work results in:

  • Delivering efficient selection of investment proposals managed by third party managers
  • Identifying potential partners and value proposals
  • Contributing to the development of AXA sourcing capabilities 
  • Active collaboration with internal as well as third party asset managers
  • Assessing at early stage the feasibility of the implementation of  new mandates with  third party managers
  • Analyzing the various advantages and conditions for the implementation of partnership with a third-party manager
  • Reassessing/updating the robustness of existing strategies/asset management team set up
  • Knowledge transfer and successful integration within Alternative credit team
  • Collaboration on activities including work with teammates 


The targeted background for the Alternative Asset Due Diligence Senior Analyst includes:
  • Master’s degree in Economics, or Finance
  • At least 5/7 years of experience in investing /selecting funds with :
    • a focus on alternative credit and/or hedge funds
    • a good experience of due diligence process and RFP
    • a strong knowledge of credit analysis
    • a strong knowledge of asset management regulation
  • Good knowledge of insurance company investment constraints is a plus
  • Good knowledge of asset management operating topics is also a plus
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; French a plus
