Position belongs to the P&C Group Risk Management team (~25 persons) which is organized in several excellence centers (Actuarial & Business Reviews, Cat Modeling, Reinsurance, Economic Capital).
The candidate will report to the Group Head of P&C Reserving & Actuarial Reviews within a team of 7 people.
The Group Risk Management is a strategic department within AXA dealing with the most sophisticated P&C challenges of a leading international insurance company.
The candidate will have to play a strong role in the achievement of the team objectives, in respect of the coordination/realization of in-depth reviews of entities sponsored by the Group Management. The candidate will interact with P&C entity’s top management during the reviews and in particular with the Heads of Actuarial, Underwriting and Claims departments.
Core activities
P&C Actuarial reviews
  • Contribute/Conduct regular in-depth reviews of P&C entities (actuarial studies, review of the technical provisions, underwriting and claims processes, reinsurance …), with the support of entities and Group's experts, to ensure that the local methodologies and processes are consistent with the AXA Standard. The candidate will be responsible at least for the coordination of 1 of these reviews. 3 or 4 trips of one or two weeks per year are expected (mainly Europe, Asia, and South America).
  • Provide a Global view of entity’s P&C technical reserves to other Group departments (PBRC, Investors Relations…) or Rating Agencies (S&P…).
  • Support the Group Corporate Finance Team for Merger & Acquisitions.
Reserving Risk Appetite and Governance follow-up
  • Monitor the Reserving Risk Appetite process per entity and at Group Level and alert top management in case of breach.
  • Support Head of Actuarial & Business Reviews team in a) setting-up and updating Reserving, Underwriting and Reinsurance Standards, Policies and Guidelines and b) ensuring their homogeneous application within the Group.
  • Contribution to various studies (Solvency II, IFRS 17…)
Develop a comprehensive business expertise within the Risk Management family.
  • Support the operational entities in managing efficiently their risks relating to pricing, underwriting and claims handling
  • Contribute to any work aiming to detect and manage P&C Emerging Risks (such as Cyber risks)
  • Foster a proactive P&C risk management culture

Technical and professional skills:
  • Good knowledge of the P&C actuarial techniques for reserving, reinsurance and pricing.
  • Ability to build, use and understand various actuarial models. Knowledge of the data analytics techniques is an asset.
  • Good understanding of Underwriting, Claims and reserves assessment connections.
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting, reinsurance and audit techniques are an asset.
Soft skills and competencies:
  • Ability to build good working relationships, good communicator, flexible.
  • Ability to communicate and persuade members of entities’ Senior Management.
  • Ability to work and lead projects within a network organization (project management skills)
  • Ability to coordinate several teams of senior underwriting and claims experts.
  • Ability to lead interviews with members of Senior Management.
  • Speak and write good English (must have). Any other European language as well would be appreciated.
  • Open to different cultures and to travelling.
  • Autonomy.
Management skills:
No direct FTE management but transversal management skills needed and ability to coordinate team experts works.
At least 5 years of experience in P&C actuarial fields, with significant experience as P&C reserving Actuary.
