The Credit Strategist covers investment topics related to relative value and credit strategy with a special focus on Emerging Markets (EM).
The Credit Strategist reports to the Senior Credit Strategist.
The position is Paris based and is part of a 24-member multi-national credit team, Group Credit Team (GCT) headed by the Group Chief Credit Officer. GCT is part of the Investment & ALM department headed by the Group CIO, located within the AXA GIE, AXA Group holding company. The AXA Group credit portfolio is in the order of EUR 202 billion.
 
Main Responsibilities
 
The core duties of the Credit Strategist are:
  • Assessing and monitoring the relative value and credit strategy with a focus on EM investments within AXA different investment strategies
  • Helping the Senior Credit Strategist for the relative value and credit strategy in Developed Markets (DM)
  • Monitoring financial markets in general and EM in particular to detect new investment opportunities and risks, then recommending appropriate action plans or changes in investment strategies
  • Liaising and coordinating with Group Asset Managers and AXA local entities as part of the  EM Center of Expertise (CoE)
  • Collaborating with other GCT credit analyst and credit investment teammates
Outputs and Deliverables
 
The Credit Strategist core work results in:
  • Periodic (monthly and ad-hoc) updates on relative value and credit strategy for EM
  • Periodic (monthly and ad-hoc) updates on relative value and credit strategy for some DM investments
  • Investment memos and investment strategy reviews (ad-hoc)
     
 
 
 
 

Experience and Qualifications:

 

The targeted background for the Credit Strategist includes:
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business from a leading university or business school
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in credit markets in an investment role or in fundamental credit analysis role with investment considerations at a financial institution, asset manager or institutional investor
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; French and another language a plus
