AXA is building a Special Investigations Practice to ensure an adequate response is systematically given to internal fraud incidents and to make sure that any potential losses or impacts to the Group will be recovered, minimized and prevented in the future.
Indeed, the Investigation practice will be constantly striving for the protection of AXA assets (including brand and reputation) by professionalizing and securing investigation performance as well as contributing to strengthen enforcement of corrective actions.
The Special Investigations Practice lies within the Internal Audit Head Office.
Primary mission:
The primary missions affixed to the position are:
  1. Conduct special investigations at GIE and assist, where needed, local entities in every step of their response plan to alleged employee misconduct (e.g. approach definition, preparation of interview guidelines, suspect interview conduction, report writing, etc.);
  2. Participate actively in the Group allegation reporting process (prepare, consolidate and analyse investigations logs in an objective to build relevant dashboards);
  3. Contribute to the promotion of a forensic culture and adequate investigation practice at AXA in compliance with Group standards, investigations guidelines and applicable laws and régulations.
The position will report to the Global Head of Special Investigations. It will have to engage with different levels of stakeholders (business stakeholders, 2nd line of defense governance bodies, peers, etc.). It is also expected to interact from time to time with Senior Executives.
The position will have a key impact on the ability of the investigation practice to identify, understand and adequately response to both recurring or emerging internal fraud incidents.
Key accountabilities
To conduct special investigations at GIE; and where needed participate to material investigations (including assisting local team remotely in their response to internal fraud incidents and/or completing certain investigative work) under the supervision of the GHSI;
  • Complete the preliminary analysis of allegations receipt and document it synthetically (1 pager)
  • Define / refine the investigation approach together with the GHSI (communication protocol, nature of diligence to be performed, etc.)
  • Perform any necessary investigative work (interviews, documentation review, etc.) to gather relevant information and collect evidence that will confirm or not allegations
  • Write the investigation report in compliance with Investigation Practice standards
  • Participate to the presentation of factual findings arising from the investigation
To prepare AXA GIE investigations log as well as Group investigations dashboard in compliance with AXA standards and the Group Allegations Framework;
  • Prepare the monthly investigations log for GIE and prepare the quarterly dashboard for the GIE Comex
  • Consolidate Regional quarterly logs and ensure quality of data provided including:
    • Consistency check (format, classification of allegation, status of investigation, timing indication, etc.)
    • Discussion with local / regional team to complete and/or adjust the log so as information can be read on a stand-alone basis
    • Identification and tracking of all material cases
To actively contribute to the enhancement of the overall investigation practice including outputs from investigations, knowledge sharing (trainings, etc.) and where needed benchmarking / economic intelligence activities
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual allegations & investigations report including:
    • Giving an overview of the key internal fraud categories impacting AXA, where needed with a focus on Regional aspect;
    • Presentation of material cases that may have impacted several Regions;
    • Identification of leading practices implemented locally to analyse the case as well as corrective actions, etc.
  • Assist the GHSI to design, deploy and maintain the Investigation Community in One and optimize knowledge sharing within AXA forensic practitioners

  4. Language skills: The minimum requirement is fluency in English and a basic knowledge of French. Knowledge of other languages spoken where AXA operates would be an asset.
  5. Others: A sound working knowledge of MS Office suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.

Background and experience:
University degree preferably in business, law, finance, audit and/or financial controlling.
A forensic certification would be an advantage (CFE or like.).
Working knowledge and / or experience in the Financial Services industry would be a plus.
Familiarity and experience in fraud risk prevention and detection (including concept, leading market practices) would be an advantage.
Understanding of basic fraud mechanisms (corruption, financial fraudulent statements, misappropriation of assets, etc.) and how to handle them would be an asset.
Awareness and experience in fraud response, specifically crisis management and investigation conduction (including email analysis, suspect interview, etc.) would be a highly appreciated skill.
Minimum 4 years professional experience in areas related to internal / external audit competences or gained within the forensic practice of a Big Four or of an international company.
