Commitments to the Group's employees and human rights at work
To achieve the Group's ambition to become the preferred company in its industry, the motivation and commitment of all of staff members around the world are essential, and their respect for the Group's values - professionalism, innovation, pragmatism, team spirit and integrity - is decisive. In return, AXA is committed to promote employee fulfillment and satisfaction by upholding the following principles.
1) Providing a workplace in which employees are respected
AXA is committed to providing each employee with a working environment within which all people are treated with respect:
- Providing equal opportunities for all;
- Respecting the diversity of employees' backgrounds, experiences and contributions;
- Conducting business with integrity and encouraging business partners to do the same;
- Opposing harassment in the workplace;
- Promoting constructive dialog between AXA, its employees and their representatives;
- Supporting employee efforts to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
2) Encouraging a management style that empowers and develops the Group's employees
AXA's management style seeks to engage employees in the Group strategy and objectives and to recognize and reward performance.
Within this framework, AXA is working to ensure that all employees have:
- Quality information on key priorities.
- Clear individual objectives.
- The support needed from the manager to develop and strengthen individual skills and know-how.
- Fair performance-based systems of compensation and recognition.
3) Measurable commitments
An employee survey has been in place since 1993. The findings are provided to the management of every entity. After each survey, the companies then define and implement actions aimed at improving workplace efficiency and the quality of the working environment.
4) International commitments
Moreover, by signing up to the Global Compact, AXA is committed to upholding its 10 universal principles, including those relating to human rights and labor standards: freedom of association, right to collective bargaining, elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor, elimination of discrimination, effective abolition of child labor, and elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
5) A strategic priority: equal opportunities and respect for diversity
In line with its sustainable development strategy, AXA has identified equal employment opportunities as one of its strategic priorities, which must therefore be covered by a specific and coordinated policy and process, overseen worldwide by the Group human resources department.
