Monitoring AXA's exposure to emerging risks
Social & environmental factors in risk management
To ensure that the Group's underwriting processes integrate social & environmental factors, AXA has formed a work group dedicated to emerging risks. Major emerging risks are taken into account, such as the impacts of climate change, nanotechnologies, cyber-criminality, obesity, aspartame, GMOs, medical errors and electromagnetic fields. Over 20 underwriters, risk managers and risk specialists are responsible for quantifying and qualifying the potential cost of catastrophic exposure for the Group, to ensure that these risks, after aggregation, remain within acceptable tolerance limits. Their mission is also to encourage the exchange of best practices and expertise to ensure that underwriting policies are adapted to emerging risks.
