Mr. Jean-René Fourtou is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique. In 1963, he joined Bossard & Michel as a consultant. In 1972, he became Chief Operating Officer of Bossard Consultants and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bossard Group in 1977. In 1986, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Rhône-Poulenc Group that later merged with and into Hoechst to create Aventis. From December 1999 to May 2002, he served as Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Aventis. Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and 2004, Mr. Fourtou co-chairs the Franco-Moroccan Economic Impetus Group created in September 2005. In July 2002, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vivendi Universal and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Vivendi.
