The AXA Research Fund and HEC Paris linked up to create a permanent Chair for Decision Science

Life is full of decisions, most of which have unknown consequences. This new Chair seeks to improve our understanding of how decisions are made and how we can support better decision making, in light of cognitive limits and psychological constraints. It will also explore the links between effective decision making and successful leadership.

Held by Israeli researcher Prof Itzhak Gilboa, it will be devoted to sponsoring academic research, workshops and conferences, and will bring together researchers from various disciplines. It builds on HEC Paris' research capacity in decision making and will integrate the latest research developments into its leadership training curriculum.

The AXA Research Fund wanted to support this ambitious programme by endowing HEC Paris with 1 million euro to create a permanent Chair officially launched on June 29th 2010 by Henri de Castries, Chairman and CEO of AXA, Ezra Suleiman, President of the Scientific Board of the AXA Research Fund and Director of AXA, and Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of HEC Paris.
