Henri de Castries, speaking at the Eurofi conference : "Achieving the Integration of European Financial Markets in a Global Context"

Henri de Castries, Chairman of the management board of AXA, has spoken on  December 3 th & 4 th at a conference held in Brussels, organised by Eurofi¹, on the integration of European Financial Markets in a global context.

This event hosted by the European Parliament focused in identifying innovative solutions in order to match consumer and financial institutions needs. The objective is to raise awereness of political leaders of State members of the European Union for the benefit of the various  stakeholders.

Leading political figures were attending as the Eurogroup and the Ecofin Council was meeting in Brussels at the same time.

The following topics has been discussed during the conference :

• Drawing lessons on the current global financial crisis in terms of EU supervisory framework;
• What would be the effective impact of a possible abolition of interchanges in the retail payment system on the parties involved (banks, consumers, trading);
• At which conditions Solvency II can ensure an optimum balance between tariff structures of insurance services and solvability.

Following the event, Eurofi will be publishing the conclusions and the results of studies on key topics of the agenda.
