On February 22, the French Minister for Culture and Communication awarded the AXA Group the "médaille de grand mécène de la culture", recognizing the Group's commitment to corporate patronage in general and its support for French cultural heritage in particular.
At the French Ministry for Culture, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres awarded Claude Brunet, the management board member in charge of transversal operations, human resources, brand and communications, and Emmanuelle Sand, the Group's head of corporate patronage, the "médaille de grand mécène de la culture".
This award is intended to recognize the contribution made by a business or individual to cultural heritage or the influence of French culture. This honor is awarded for a five-year period.
To aspire to the title of "grand patron of the arts", it is necessary to be sponsored by an institution on the one hand, and have directly or indirectly contributed to corporate patronage actions on the other, promoting the development of French cultural heritage or the influence of French culture.
In this way, the AXA Group, sponsored by the Louvre Museum - its official partner - fulfilled all of the conditions for receiving this prestigious external recognition.
For reference, in line with the Group's cultural and heritage patronage strategy, AXA has offered the Louvre Museum two sketches by Rosso Fiorentino (2003), a sculpture by Houdon - La Vestale (2005) - and the portrait of the Duc d'Orléans d'Ingres (early 2006).
