For two years now, the AXA Group has been carrying out a wide-ranging survey on retirement issues in the countries in which it is based. Focusing on sociological aspects, this survey aims to meet three goals: to understand the public's attitudes to retirement, to compare generally accepted ideas with the actual situation, and to offer an international vision.
This year, the study has been carried out in 11 countries, with 6,915 working and retired people from all social classes polled. The respondents were asked about their situation, their customs, their consumer spending habits, and their projects, with regard to financial, healthcare or even leisure aspects.
The European and global findings from this second AXA Retirement Scope were presented to the press at the Group's headquarters in Paris on Monday April 24.
The general presentation of the survey's international results will be supplemented by insight into the attitudes of the various populations in relation to retirement and into the actual models for retirement in Anglo-Saxon countries (Australia, Canada, UK, US) and Southern Europe (Italy and Spain).
The documents relating to this press conference are online on www.axa.com, in the Press Corner/Presentations section. You will be able to check out the survey's findings (global overview and detailed results for each country) online at http://www.retirement-scope.axa.com/.
